How OnlyFans works for creators
OnlyFans is a subscription website, run by Fenix International Limited, where you upload content and set your prices, and your audience pays to subscribe or pays separately for extras like paid messages or tips. OnlyFans processes every payment and keeps a share. It doesn’t promise you an audience or income: promoting yourself, answering messages and chasing copies of your content are up to you, or to whoever helps you.

What is OnlyFans and how does it work?
OnlyFans is a subscription platform for adults only (18+). According to its terms of service, it’s run by Fenix International Limited, a company based in London.
You open a verified creator account with your ID, upload content and set your prices. Your audience pays; OnlyFans processes the payment, takes its share and the rest goes to the account balance. You’ll find the whole sign-up process, step by step, in how to start OnlyFans from scratch.
OnlyFans isn’t part of the deal between you and each subscriber: that’s covered by the contract between subscriber and creator. It doesn’t have its own app: it works in your browser.
What can subscribers see, and what can’t they?
It depends on whether your account is paid or free; OnlyFans’ terms let you choose. Which one suits you is covered in free vs paid OnlyFans.
On a paid account, anyone who doesn’t pay for the subscription can’t see your posts, stories or live streams, according to the OnlyFans Creator Center. Anyone who pays sees everything you post for your subscribers, except items with their own price, which are paid for separately.
On a free account, subscribing costs nothing; what people pay for is the paid content. Here’s what each type offers, according to the official OnlyFans blog:
| What it offers | Paid account | Free account |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly subscription | Yes, at the price you set. | No: subscribing is free. |
| Paid messages | Yes. | Yes. |
| Paid posts and live streams | No: they’re included in the subscription. | Yes. |
| Tips | Yes. | Yes, and you can ask for one before someone messages you. |
| Bundles and promotions | Multi-month bundles at a discount; a free trial or a first-month discount. | Doesn’t apply. |
What gets paid for besides the subscription?
On a paid account, the subscription unlocks the feed; everything else has its own price: paid messages, paid posts on free accounts, tips, custom content, live streams and fundraisers, although not all of them are available from day one or on every account. What each one takes to work is in how to make money on OnlyFans.
Who sets the prices, and how much does OnlyFans keep?
You set the prices: according to OnlyFans’ terms of service, the creator alone is responsible for deciding the price of each paid interaction.
Everything is shown and charged in US dollars (USD), wherever you live; your bank or e-wallet may charge you to convert the currency. How much to ask for each thing depends on your situation.
OnlyFans deducts its fee from every payment your audience makes; the rest goes to the account balance. The exact figure is in the “Creator payouts” section of its terms of service, which has the final word.
If a subscriber gets a payment reversed through their card (a chargeback), OnlyFans may deduct from the balance the part of that payment that had already been credited.
What tools do you get in your OnlyFans creator dashboard?
These are the tools described on the official OnlyFans blog. Almost all of them come into play in the chat, which is where the selling happens; our article on OnlyFans chatting explains how that work gets done.
| Tool | What it’s for |
|---|---|
| Vault | Stores what you’ve posted, scheduled and streamed; it keeps track of what you’ve sent by message, so you don’t send the same thing twice. |
| Lists | Group your subscribers so you can reach each group with different messages, promotions or live streams. |
| Queue | Lets you schedule content to go out at a set time, even in weeks when you can’t create. |
| Welcome message | Everyone gets it as soon as they subscribe. |
| Mass messages | A single message sent to many people at once, choosing who to include or leave out. |
| Statistics | Earnings (Statements, Overview), interactions (Engagement), visits by country (Reach), new subscribers and renewals: the basis for deciding what to create. |
| Tracking links (“Campaigns”) | One link per site: it shows where your visits come from and how many of them subscribe. |
| Watermark and geo-blocking | Marks your photos and videos; blocks access to your profile from the countries or states you choose. |
Does OnlyFans find subscribers for you, or do you have to bring them in?
OnlyFans may recommend your profile, but it doesn’t commit to bringing you an audience: its guide asks you to spend time promoting yourself. Its terms say it may use recommendation systems, such as showing profiles on its home page that are followed by people with similar subscriptions.
If you don’t have many followers at first, it asks you to focus on creating good content and to start with your social media, without spamming: it warns that spam can get you blocked or banned.
There are limits. OnlyFans doesn’t allow you to advertise with Google Ads or on search engines; every link to your profile has to follow its rules and those of the site where you post it. On Instagram, TikTok and Threads, only content suitable for all audiences is allowed; you’ll find the details in how to promote your OnlyFans on Instagram.
What OnlyFans does, what’s up to you and what a team can take on
OnlyFans provides the platform; almost all the day-to-day work happens outside it. The last column shows what our team handles on the Full Management plan; the decisions are still yours.
| Task | OnlyFans | You | Our team (Full Management) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Account and verification | Verifies your identity; asks for selfie checks from time to time. | Get verified and pass the checks. | If you don’t have an account, sets one up in your name. |
| Content | Hosts it, reviews it and removes anything that breaks its rules. | Create it and set your limits in writing. | Weekly guide and professional editing. |
| New audience | May recommend profiles, with no promise of an audience. | Promote yourself on social media, following each network’s rules. | A phone farm with more than 100 phones posting from agency accounts on Instagram, TikTok and Threads (only content suitable for all audiences) and on X; your Telegram channel. |
| Chat and Vault | Provides the tools: welcome message, lists, mass messages, paid messages. | Reply at any hour and keep the Vault organized. | Professional chatters 24/7, with your limits in writing. |
| Copies on other sites | May report them on your behalf, with no obligation to. | Find them and report each one. | Searches for your leaked content and reports every copy. |
| Taxes | Doesn’t give tax advice; may close the account of anyone who doesn’t comply. | Report your income. | Tax information and recommendations. |
| Account rules | Applies them to every account. | Be responsible for everything done on your account. | Acts on your behalf, authorized by contract. |
How responsible are you if someone else helps with your account?
Just as responsible as if you ran it on your own. OnlyFans accepts that people may help you: the contract between subscriber and creator recognizes that third parties can help creators with their accounts. But its terms of service make it clear that this help doesn’t change your legal responsibility.
That’s why the selfie checks exist: according to OnlyFans, every account goes through regular checks to confirm it’s still controlled by the verified creator.
Your taxes are your responsibility too: OnlyFans doesn’t give tax advice and, if you don’t meet your tax obligations, it can suspend or close your account.
How we do it at Luzara Talent
Our team has been managing creators for more than 4 years. By contract, you authorize us to act on your behalf on social media and on OnlyFans, always within the limits you set in writing.
- There are two plans. With Chatting Premium, professional chatters from our team handle your chat 24/7 while you keep running your own social media. With Full Management, the one we recommend, you create content with a weekly guide; our team adds social media management, the phone farm, Telegram, editing, content protection and tax information.
- Your OnlyFans account is always yours; if you don’t have one, we set it up from scratch, in your name.

Short answers to the most common questions on this topic.

ApplyIs OnlyFans an app or a website?
It’s a website. According to its official blog, OnlyFans doesn’t have its own app for iPhone, Android or desktop: it works in the browser on your phone or computer. From there you can post, send messages and manage your account without downloading anything; if you want it close at hand, add a shortcut to your home screen.
What can someone who isn’t subscribed see on your OnlyFans?
It depends on your account. On a paid account, according to the OnlyFans Creator Center, only people who pay for your monthly subscription see your posts, stories and live streams. On a free account, subscribing costs nothing, but anything with its own price, like a paid message or a paid post, is paid for separately.
Does OnlyFans charge in US dollars or in your local currency?
In US dollars. According to OnlyFans’ terms of service, all prices are shown and charged in US dollars (USD), whether you live in Spain, Mexico, Argentina or any other country. Your bank or e-wallet may charge you for converting the currency: check its fees first.
Can you have a free OnlyFans and still make money?
Yes. On a free account anyone can subscribe without paying; you earn from paid messages and posts, from tips and, once OnlyFans turns them on, from live streams with an entry price. You can also ask for a tip before someone messages you. Since there’s no subscription, everything depends on what sells inside the account.
Does OnlyFans work the same in Spain, Mexico or Argentina?
Yes: the same website, the same tools and the same terms, with prices in US dollars. Something useful, depending on where you live: geo-blocking stops people in the countries or states you choose, such as your own, from reaching your profile. We work with creators from Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Paraguay, as well as the US, the UK and Canada.
