Why OnlyFans rejects your verification and what to do
OnlyFans verifies that you’re 18 or older and that the account is yours: it asks for a valid, official ID, a selfie of you holding it and your personal details. If your verification is rejected, check whether OnlyFans tells you why, then try again with a valid ID, good lighting and the same details everywhere; if it fails again, contact its support team. Nobody else can do it for you with their own ID or face: not a friend, not an agency.

What does OnlyFans ask for to verify a creator account?
According to its terms of service, to open a creator account you have to be 18 or older, be able to sign a contract, be allowed to use OnlyFans legally and have no convictions for serious crimes. You’ll find the whole sign-up process, step by step, in how to start OnlyFans from scratch. Here we focus on the part where people get stuck the most: verification.
Here’s what OnlyFans asks you for, according to its terms and its privacy policy:
- A valid ID and two photos of you. Among the data it collects, its privacy policy lists a selfie of you holding your ID.
- Your details: full name, address, city and country of birth, country of residence, email and phone number.
- The username of one of your social media accounts or your website address, which it uses to better check your age and identity.
- A bank account or payment method, plus the payout method you choose.
- If you’re registered for UK VAT, your VAT number.
- More proof of age or identity whenever it asks.
Why does OnlyFans ask for verification, and how does it check it’s really you?
Because it has to know that you’re 18 or older and that you are who you say you are. OnlyFans also states that it voluntarily complies, as far as English law allows, with a US law (Section 2257). That law requires anyone who produces sexually explicit content to check, with an ID, the name and date of birth of every person who appears in it, and to keep those records.
According to its privacy policy, before opening a creator account OnlyFans checks four things:
- Your country of residence, to make sure you can use OnlyFans legally.
- Your financial details, which it also uses as an anti-fraud verification measure.
- Your age and identity, through an outside provider: using facial recognition, it compares a short .gif taken from your selfie with the photo on your ID.
- That you haven’t been banned from OnlyFans before.
Why does OnlyFans reject your ID or your selfie?
OnlyFans doesn’t publish a fixed list of rejection reasons in its terms or its privacy policy. In the table, we separate what comes from its rules from practical tips, which aren’t part of any official list.
| Possible reason | Where it comes from | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Your ID isn’t valid or has expired | Terms of service: they ask for a valid ID. | Use an official, unexpired ID. If it’s expired or damaged, renew it before trying again. |
| Your face doesn’t match the one on your ID | Privacy policy: the provider compares your selfie with the photo on your ID. | Try again facing the light, with nothing covering your face and the whole ID in view. |
| The photo is blurry, cropped, has glare or uses filters | Practical tip, not an official list. | A plain photo taken on the spot: no filters or edits, with all four corners of the ID in the frame. |
| Your details don’t match your ID | Practical tip, not an official list. | Your name and date of birth exactly as on your ID. Your address: your current one, written the same way every time. |
| The social media account you give doesn’t match you | Privacy policy: it uses it to better check your age and identity. | Give a social media account or website that’s really yours. |
| You live somewhere OnlyFans can’t be used | Privacy policy: it checks your country of residence to make sure access is legal. | Give your real country. Using a VPN to look like you’re somewhere else isn’t a solution. |
| You were banned from OnlyFans before | Privacy policy: it checks that you haven’t been banned before. | If you think it’s a mistake, explain it to support. |
| A conviction for a serious crime | Terms of service: it’s a requirement. In the US, its privacy policy allows for checking this with background check providers. | It has nothing to do with the photo: verifying again won’t change it. |
What should you do if OnlyFans rejects your verification?
Before you try again, find out what went wrong. Following these steps in order keeps you from trying again blindly:
Look for the reason
If OnlyFans shows you a reason when it rejects your verification, that’s your best clue about what to fix.
Check your ID
Make sure it’s official, unexpired and fully readable. If it’s expired or damaged, renew it before trying again.
Try again in good light
Face the light, no glare, the whole ID in view, nothing covering your face, no filters or edits.
The same details everywhere
Name and date of birth: exactly as on your ID. Your address: your real, current one, written the same way at every step of the sign-up process.
If it fails again, contact support
Through its contact form or at [email protected], two of the contact options listed in its terms of service. Explain what happened and what you’ve already tried.
If you disagree with a decision
Its terms point to its complaints policy and its appeals policy, which are part of its agreement with you.
How long does OnlyFans take to verify an account?
OnlyFans doesn’t publish a timeframe. Its terms of service and its privacy policy explain what it asks for; they don’t say how many hours or days it takes to respond. It may also ask you for more information before approving the account, which can make the wait longer.
You’ll find timeframes of hours or days online, but the sites that give them don’t cite an official source and don’t agree with each other. It’s better not to plan around any of them.
What you can control is not wasting attempts: a valid ID, a good photo and the same details everywhere. While you wait, get the rest ready: your limits in writing, your first posts.
Why is OnlyFans asking you to verify again?
Because verification isn’t a one-time thing. Its privacy policy warns that, for as long as you have the account, it may ask you to re-authenticate your identity periodically; its terms say you have to give more proof of age or identity whenever it asks. It doesn’t say how often. Being asked doesn’t, on its own, mean there’s a problem: it’s built into the rules.
If you’ve already passed verification with the outside provider, where the law allows, that provider may keep your facial data so you don’t have to upload your ID again. You can withdraw that permission by writing to [email protected]; in that case, you may be asked for your ID again.
That’s why it’s worth keeping your ID valid for as long as you have the account. Providing that proof when asked is one of its terms, which also allow it to suspend an account while it reviews a case. If that has already happened to you, see what to do if your OnlyFans account is suspended.
Can someone else verify the account for you?
No. The selfie has to be yours, with your ID, because OnlyFans compares your face with the one on that ID. Its terms are clear: its relationship is with you, not with third parties, and you can’t assign or transfer your rights or obligations. If someone helps you run the account, you’re still the one legally responsible.
It works the other way around too: if someone suggests you work on an account opened with another person’s details, walk away. That account would never be yours. An agency can run your account on your behalf if you authorize it by contract, but it can’t replace you as the account holder: verification is always done with your ID and your face (what to check before giving an agency access).
If someone else appears in your content, they have to meet its rules too: either they’re a creator you tag with the OnlyFans tool, or they’re 18 or older and you have their proof of identity with their written consent. If anything required is missing, OnlyFans may restrict that content or your account, and even withhold earnings.
Is it safe to upload your ID to OnlyFans?
The check on your face is done by an outside provider that OnlyFans works with. According to its privacy policy, OnlyFans does collect a copy of your ID, the selfie where you hold it and your details; what it doesn’t receive is the biometric data from facial recognition: the provider processes that. From the provider it gets the result (passed or rejected, with the reason), along with when the process started and ended.
Where you need to be most careful is outside OnlyFans, with anyone who asks for your ID on some pretext. Spain’s National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE, Instituto Nacional de Ciberseguridad) advises checking who receives it and why before you send it; if that isn’t clear, don’t send it.
- Only upload your ID inside the official process, from your account.
- Don’t send it by message or email to anyone who promises to verify or unlock your account.
- Be wary of anyone who asks for passwords or money to help you with verification.
- If you’ve already sent it to the wrong person and you’re in Spain, you can call 017, INCIBE’s free cybersecurity helpline.

Frequently asked questions
FAQ
Short answers to the most common questions on this topic.
Apply and tell us: a person from our team replies in under 24 hours.
ApplyWhat ID does OnlyFans accept: a national ID card or a passport?
An official, unexpired ID with your photo. Its terms refer to a valid ID; its privacy policy, to an official government ID. Neither publishes a list by country, so we can’t tell you whether your DNI, your cédula or your passport will work in your case. Use a valid one that’s fully readable; if you’re unsure, follow the process itself or ask its support team.
How long does OnlyFans take to verify an account?
There’s no official published timeframe. Neither its terms of service nor its privacy policy say how many hours or days it takes to respond, and it may ask for more information before approving. The timeframes you see online don’t cite an official source. What you can do is avoid wasting attempts: a valid ID, a good photo and the same details everywhere.
Why is OnlyFans asking me to verify again?
Because its policy allows for it: for as long as you have the account, it may ask you to re-authenticate your identity periodically, without saying how often. Its terms also let it ask for more proof of age or identity whenever it needs it. If the provider kept your facial data with your permission, you may not have to upload your ID again.
What should I do if my verification keeps getting rejected?
Stop and check before trying again. Make sure your ID is official and unexpired, and take the photo in good light, with no filters and the whole ID visible; enter your name and date of birth exactly as they appear on it. If it keeps failing, contact support through its contact form or at [email protected]. No shortcuts: attempts with altered documents can be logged.
Can someone else verify the account for me?
No. The selfie has to be yours, with your ID, because OnlyFans compares your face with the one on that ID. Its relationship is with you; the account can’t be transferred to anyone. Someone can help you run it, an agency for example, but you’re still the one legally responsible. At Luzara Talent, the account is always yours.
Can you have an OnlyFans account without verification?
Not as a creator. To open a creator account, OnlyFans requires a valid ID, photos of you and a payout method, and it may ask for more proof whenever it needs it. Anyone offering you an unverified account, or one already verified with someone else’s details, is offering you an account that will never be yours.
