What to do if your bank rejects or blocks your OnlyFans payments
If your bank rejects or blocks your OnlyFans payments, the first step is to find out where the money got stuck: inside OnlyFans, in the transfer, or at your bank, which accepted it but then froze the account or asked for documents. Each case has its own fix. If it doesn’t get sorted out, file a written complaint with your bank and then with the official body in your country.

Where did your money get stuck? The three cases
Before you call anyone, check three things: the status of the withdrawal on OnlyFans, its notifications and your bank transactions. You’ll be in one of these three cases: the first is solved with OnlyFans; the other two, with your bank.
| Case | What you see | Who can fix it |
|---|---|---|
| A. It fails inside OnlyFans | The withdrawal doesn’t go through, stays pending or you get a notice. | OnlyFans: payout details, verification, balance or review. |
| B. The bank returns the transfer | The withdrawal goes out, but the bank rejects it. | Your bank: why it rejected it. |
| C. The bank accepts it and then freezes the account | The money arrives, but they restrict the account or ask for documents. | Your bank: showing where your income comes from. |
Why won’t OnlyFans let you withdraw, or why is it holding your earnings?
If the withdrawal doesn’t even go out, the problem is inside OnlyFans. Its terms of use (August 2024) list these causes:
- Incomplete payout details: to get paid, you need to add a bank account or a payment method and choose how you want to be paid. Also check that there are no mistakes.
- Pending verification: OnlyFans can ask you for more identity information at any time, plus extra information depending on your country or nationality. If it was rejected, see what to do if your verification is rejected.
- Taxes: if you don’t meet your tax obligations, it can restrict your withdrawals.
- Balance below the minimum withdrawal amount.
- Review: if it suspects a serious or repeated breach of its rules, or fraud by you or by the subscriber, it can hold your earnings without notice while it looks into it.
- Garnishment: it can hold your earnings until the order is lifted.
- Content with another person: if the paperwork for the person appearing with you is missing, it can also hold them.
The bank returns the OnlyFans transfer: what to check
If the withdrawal goes out but the bank rejects it, don’t just try again blindly. If you’re unsure how the money reaches you, go over how getting paid on OnlyFans works. Then follow these steps:
Ask for the reason in writing
Ask the bank why it rejected the transfer and keep its answer.
Compare your details
The account holder name and the account you entered on OnlyFans must match your bank’s details exactly.
Ask about its policy
A bank can reject transactions because of its business policy or to prevent money laundering. If it doesn’t accept this kind of income, ask it to confirm that in writing.
Factor in the currency exchange
OnlyFans pays in US dollars: your bank may charge you exchange fees, which OnlyFans doesn’t cover.
Why does the bank freeze your account after an OnlyFans payment?
If the money arrives but then the bank restricts the account or asks you for documents, one possible reason in Spain is the anti-money laundering law (Law 10/2010, Ley de prevención del blanqueo de capitales). It requires the bank to:
- Know your professional activity and verify it with documents (Art. 5).
- Check that your transactions match your profile, including the source of funds (Art. 6).
- Review a customer again when their circumstances change (Art. 7.2), which could include starting to get paid by a foreign platform.
What documents does the bank ask for to verify OnlyFans income?
There’s no fixed list. According to the Bank of Spain, your bank can ask for your income tax return or any document that helps it understand your activity and the source of your funds; if you don’t provide it, it can freeze the account. Have this ready:
- Your ID.
- The earnings and withdrawal history from your OnlyFans account.
- Your income tax return or your registration with Spain’s tax agency (Agencia Tributaria), if it applies to you (outside Spain, your country’s tax document).
- A short, truthful explanation of your activity: what you do, where, since when.
Can a bank close your account for getting paid by OnlyFans?
Yes. In Spain, if the contract allows it, the bank can close an open-ended account with at least two months’ notice (Royal Decree-Law, or Real Decreto-ley, 19/2018 on payment services, Art. 32.4). If it can’t carry out the anti-money laundering checks, it has to end the relationship (Law 10/2010, Art. 7.3).
In the UK, for accounts opened on or after April 28, 2026, banks must give at least 90 days’ notice with detailed reasons, except in cases such as suspected fraud. For older accounts, it’s two months, with no obligation to explain why.
Download your statements before the account closes: they’ll help you show your income at another bank. If you legally reside in the European Union, in Spain you can request a basic payment account (Royal Decree-Law 19/2017 on basic payment accounts, Art. 3), with its limits:
- They can refuse it if you don’t provide the anti-money laundering information they ask for, or if you already have another account in Spain, unless your bank has told you it’s closing it (Art. 4).
- Unless anti-money laundering law prevents it, they must tell you about the refusal in writing, free of charge, with their reasons, within ten business days at most (Art. 5).
- If you don’t provide the anti-money laundering documents, they can close it immediately (Arts. 6 and 7).
Where can you complain if your bank freezes or closes your account?
Always complain in writing and keep a copy. In Spain there are two steps with fixed deadlines; below you’ll find the official body for each country where we work. In most of them, you need to have complained to your bank first.
Official websites to file a complaint: CONDUSEF (Mexico), Superintendencia Financiera (Colombia), Superintendencia de Bancos (Ecuador), CFPB (US), Financial Ombudsman Service (UK) and OBSI (Canada).
Your bank’s customer service department
You have to start here or with its customer ombudsman (defensor del cliente). For accounts or transfers, it has 15 business days to respond; for other matters, one month.
Bank of Spain
If it doesn’t respond or you’re not satisfied, file a complaint online or by mail, with proof of your complaint to the bank. You have one year from that complaint.
| Country | Official body | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Spain | Bank of Spain (Banco de España) | First, the bank’s customer service department. |
| Mexico | CONDUSEF (the national financial consumer protection agency) | First, the bank’s Specialized User Service Unit (Unidad Especializada de Atención a Usuarios, UNE). |
| Colombia | Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia (the financial regulator) | You can also go to the bank’s Financial Consumer Ombudsman (Defensor del Consumidor Financiero). |
| Chile | CMF (Comisión para el Mercado Financiero, the financial market regulator) | Explain the specific reason. Disputes over the contract are settled by the courts. |
| Argentina | Banco Central de la República Argentina (BCRA, the central bank) | First, the bank: ask for your complaint number. |
| Peru | SBS (the banking regulator) or Indecopi (the consumer protection agency) | SBS if the bank broke a rule; Indecopi if it’s a complaint about the service. |
| Ecuador | Superintendencia de Bancos (the banking regulator) | Start with the bank or its Customer Ombudsman (Defensor del Cliente). The Superintendencia checks whether the bank broke a rule. |
| Paraguay | Banco Central del Paraguay (the central bank) | Its Superintendencia de Bancos (banking superintendency) assists financial consumers. |
| US | CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) | It sends your complaint to the bank for a response. |
| UK | Financial Ombudsman Service | First, the bank. You have six months from its final response; it’s free. |
| Canada | OBSI (Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments) | First, the bank. The FCAC (Financial Consumer Agency of Canada) supervises banks, but doesn’t resolve individual complaints. |
What not to do while it gets sorted out
When you’re in a rush, it’s easy to make things worse. Avoid the following:
- Getting paid into someone else’s account.
- Hiding or dressing up what you do when the bank asks.
- Splitting payments or looking for “tricks” to get around the checks.
- Repeating the same withdrawal over and over without knowing why it failed.
- Arguing on the phone without putting anything in writing.
- Missing deadlines: six months to appeal on OnlyFans, one year to go to the Bank of Spain.

ApplyWhy does my bank reject OnlyFans transfers?
It could be its business policy, an anti-money laundering alert, or details you entered on OnlyFans that don’t match your account. Ask for the reason in writing before trying the withdrawal again. If its policy doesn’t accept this kind of income, ask it to confirm that in writing too.
Can a bank close my account for getting paid by OnlyFans?
Yes. In Spain, it can close an open-ended account with at least two months’ notice if the contract allows it. It also has to end the relationship if it can’t verify your activity and the source of your funds. Even so, the Bank of Spain and SEPBLAC ask banks not to close the accounts of entire groups without looking at each person.
Why won’t OnlyFans let me withdraw my earnings?
It may be due to incomplete payout details, pending verification, not reaching the minimum withdrawal amount or not meeting your tax obligations. It can also hold your earnings while it reviews a possible violation or fraud, or if there’s a garnishment order. If it decides to keep them, you have six months from its notice to appeal.
What withdrawal methods does OnlyFans offer in my country?
The ones OnlyFans offers in your account when you choose how to get paid: a bank account or a payment method. The extra information it asks for can vary depending on where you live or your nationality. We don’t give a list by country because it can change: the one that counts is the one you see in your account.
Where do I complain if the bank freezes my account?
First, in writing, to your bank’s customer service department. In Spain, if it doesn’t respond in time or you’re not satisfied, go to the Bank of Spain before a year has passed. In Mexico, it’s CONDUSEF; in Colombia, the Superintendencia Financiera; in the UK, the Financial Ombudsman Service.
Am I entitled to a basic account if the bank closes mine?
In Spain, yes, if you legally reside in the European Union, including when your bank has told you it’s closing yours. They can refuse it if you don’t provide the information required by anti-money laundering law. Unless that same law prevents it, the refusal reaches you in writing, free of charge, within ten business days at most.
