What to post on Threads as an OnlyFans creator

On Threads, it pays to post text that invites replies, with photos or videos suitable for all audiences: questions, polls, short opinions, a behind-the-scenes look at your day. Explicit content has no place there: Meta, the company behind Instagram, removes nudity and restricts anything that links to adult subscription websites to people 18 and over. To grow, the official Threads account recommends posting at least once a day and replying under your posts: work that comes on top of creating content.

What is Threads and how is it connected to your Instagram?

Threads is Instagram’s app for public conversations: posts of up to 500 characters (expandable with a text attachment of up to 10,000) that can include photos, videos, polls or voice notes. According to Meta, it reached 500 million monthly active users in June 2026.

It’s not a separate network. Your Threads profile is created with your Instagram or Facebook account, stays connected to it and inherits its history with the Community Standards, Meta’s rules on what can be posted. According to the Threads Terms of Use, if that account is deleted or disabled, you also lose access to Threads.

That’s why promoting yourself on Threads with your personal Instagram puts all the risk on a single account. The careful approach is to use a separate account, as we explain in how to promote your OnlyFans on Instagram.

What to post on Threads: seven ideas for creators

According to the official Threads account, text is what sparks the most conversation. Buffer, a company that makes social media tools, adds a caveat in a March 2026 study: on Threads, posts with video or images got more engagement than text-only posts. What works best is combining the two.

  • An introduction pinned to the top of your profile, as the official account recommends: who you are and what you’ll talk about.
  • An open question. Example: “What’s the first thing you do when you wake up? For me, coffee before my phone.”
  • A poll: up to four options, open for 24 hours, with anonymous votes. Example: “Which outfit for Saturday?”
  • A short opinion on your topic, whether it’s fashion, the gym or travel.
  • Behind-the-scenes content suitable for all audiences: the lighting, the outfits, the music while you create content.
  • A photo or video suitable for all audiences, with a line that starts a conversation. Example: your sneakers with “Gym or couch?”
  • Replies in other people’s threads or in communities on your topic. Heads up: belonging to a community is public and shows on your profile.

What should your first post on Threads be?

The first thing you post is your introduction; before that, get your profile ready. Here’s an order for your first week:

  1. Review your profile

Name, username, photo and bio with no adult content. Under Instagram’s Recommendations Guidelines (we explain them below), Meta tries not to show accounts that have it there to new people.

  2. Pin your introduction

A few lines. It’s the first thing people see when they land on your profile from a reply.

  3. Decide who can reply

Anyone, profiles you follow or only people you mention. From day one, set up your hidden words: Threads hides replies that contain them.

  4. Add a topic tag

It’s the closest thing to a hashtag: one per post, up to 50 characters.

  5. Reply in other threads

In a 30-day experiment by Buffer (2024), replies on other people’s posts got more engagement than standalone posts.

Is Threads for adults only? What content it allows

No. Instagram’s terms, which also govern who can use Threads, set the minimum age at 13, or higher if the law in your country requires it, and there are teen accounts with content limits. The careful approach is to post with all audiences in mind.

Meta’s Community Standards apply to Threads, and it helps to separate three levels, from most to least serious. The third is what many people call a shadowban: what you post stops being shown to new people. It comes from Instagram’s Recommendations Guidelines (we haven’t found separate ones for Threads, although its account status also shows what isn’t being recommended).

LevelWhat falls under it, according to MetaWhat it means for you
RemovedGenitals, visible female nipples, close-ups of buttocks, explicit or implied sexual activity. Also offering pornographic material or linking to porn websites. It’s deleted and counts against your account status. If it keeps happening, you can lose the account.
18+ onlyNudity covered only by an emoji or another digital element, or by an object; nudity under see-through clothing; photos focused on breasts, buttocks or crotch; erotic dancing; usernames, links or logos of adult subscription websites. No minors see it: it reaches fewer people.
Not recommendedSuggestive content, like photos in see-through clothing; content that promotes adult services; other people’s content reused with barely any changes.People who follow you see it, but it isn’t shown to new people.

Can you promote OnlyFans on Threads?

Yes, within limits. Meta doesn’t name any website, but it restricts content with usernames, links or logos of adult subscription websites to people 18 and over. It bans offering pornographic material, sexual chats or nude photos, or sharing contact details to get them: the text that goes with the link counts as much as the link itself.

On top of that, Instagram’s Recommendations Guidelines keep content that promotes adult services out of recommendations. If Threads applies the same criteria, every post that pushes people toward your page mostly reaches the people who already follow you. Threads is for getting discovered; sales happen on your page and in its chat.

At Luzara Talent, Threads only carries content suitable for all audiences. That’s stricter than what Meta requires, on purpose: it protects the accounts and leaves explicit content for X or your OnlyFans page.

How often and at what time should you post on Threads?

At least once a day, according to the official Threads account. Buffer suggests more and gives a starting point for timing, based on data from accounts that use its tool, not from creators in your field.

If your audience is split between Spain and Latin America, there’s a time difference of several hours: 9:00 a.m. in Madrid is the middle of the night in Bogotá or Mexico City. You have to choose who you’re posting for. Also, growth is slow: in Buffer’s 30-day experiment, posting daily took an account from 267 to 290 followers.

How to grow on Threads by replying, without losing control

According to the official account, replies make up half of all views on Threads, and it recommends replying under your own posts to keep the conversation going.

Every post means some time on your phone afterward, even on days when you don’t feel like talking to anyone. Also, people you don’t follow can send you direct messages: those messages land in a requests folder, and you can change the setting so only profiles you follow can message you. For comments, Threads lets you:

  • Choose who can reply and quote.
  • Approve replies before they’re visible, or filter them.
  • Create hidden words, and restrict or block anyone who crosses the line.

What to avoid on Threads

Each of these mistakes runs into a Meta rule.

  • Buying followers or likes. Meta’s spam policy bans it, and under its Recommendations Guidelines Meta tries not to show accounts that do it repeatedly.
  • Posting in bursts. Meta doesn’t allow posting at a very high frequency: spread your posts throughout the day.
  • Using links that lead somewhere else. Misleading links are banned.
  • Reusing other people’s content. It won’t be recommended, and Threads can take away access from anyone who repeatedly infringes copyright.
  • Forgetting about your account status. In Settings > Account > Account status you can see what was removed, what isn’t being recommended and the features you can’t use, and you can request a review. If removals pile up, you can lose the account, although you usually get a warning first.
  • Deleting only on Instagram. If you also shared something from Instagram to Threads, it stays there: you have to delete it separately.

What our team does for you

Posting every day, replying, moderating, following the rules: it’s another job on top of creating content. With Luzara Talent’s Full Management plan, the one we recommend, your content reaches Threads without you having to post it.

  • Our team posts your content on Instagram, TikTok, Threads and X from agency accounts in our phone farm of more than 100 phones, not from your Instagram. Behind every account there’s a real person, not an automated program. Each account posts its own version of every piece, with professional editing.
  • On Instagram, TikTok and Threads, only content suitable for all audiences.
  • Content direction with a weekly guide.
  • Plus: professional chatters 24/7 in your OnlyFans chat with your limits in writing, searching for your leaked content so we can report every copy we find with DMCA notices, a weekly dashboard and 24/7 support for any question about how your account is managed.
  • Your OnlyFans account is always yours: the agency only manages it. By contract, you authorize the agency to act on your behalf on OnlyFans and on social media.

Apply
Are Threads and X the same thing?

No. Both revolve around conversation, but their rules are opposites. X allows consensual adult content if it’s labeled and kept out of highly visible places, like your profile photo. Threads applies Meta’s Community Standards, which remove nudity. Explicit content belongs on X or on your page.

Can you use Threads without Instagram?

Yes, if you have a Facebook account: your Threads profile is created with an Instagram or Facebook account and stays connected to it. Without either one, no. Choose carefully which one you sign in with, because if that account is disabled, you lose Threads too.

Does Threads use hashtags?

Not the way Instagram does. On Threads you add a topic tag: one per post, up to 50 characters, with the # optional. Tapping it opens the search results for that topic, so pick one people actually search for.

Can I put my OnlyFans link on Threads?

It isn’t banned outright, but anything with links or usernames of adult subscription websites is only seen by people 18 and over, and Instagram’s Recommendations Guidelines don’t recommend content that promotes adult services. What is banned is offering pornographic material, nudes or sexual chats.

Do I need Threads to start with Luzara Talent?

No. With the Full Management plan, our team posts your content on Threads from agency accounts in the phone farm, so you don’t need to open a Threads account of your own. The review of your creator profile is free and, before you sign, we don’t ask you for passwords or money.
